Spiced Cranberry Cocktail

If you’re looking to add some festivity to your holiday drink game, this cranberry champagne cocktail is a great way to do it. It’s easy to make, perfectly spiced, sweetened to taste, and is a beautiful color.

One of the best parts of this holiday cocktail is that the cranberry syrup can be made up to a week in advance. So when it’s time to celebrate and entertain, this drink super easy to make and serve!

We all need a stress-free fancy looking drink to serve at a holiday party, right? That’s my favorite part of this cocktail!

This cranberry champagne cocktail is similar to a poinsettia cocktail, sans triple sec, and with the addition of the spiced cranberry syrup which makes this cocktail a deliciously spiced unique drink.

Champagne cocktails are a great way to lightly imbibe during the holidays without going too crazy.

Other tasty variants to this drink are rosemary champagne cocktail and persimmon champagne cocktail. Serve all three to get into the winter spirit!

Several champagne flutes with persimmon champagne cocktail, which is a darker orange at the bottom, a lighter orange on top, and each garnished with a fresh sage leaf.

Even though I like to enjoy cocktails during the holiday season, I also like to keep in mind those who don’t, can’t, or aren’t old enough to. So, I made this super pretty holiday cocktail with a mocktail option too. Cheers!

How to Make a Cranberry Champagne Cocktail

It’s time to mix something other than orange juice with champagne, and the ingredients for this festive drink are just as easy!

Ingredients

This recipe makes about 8 cocktails, but it’s super easy to double or more if you are planning for a big party.

To Make Spiced Cranberry Syrup

Unsweetened cranberry juice: I prefer the cranberry juice to be unsweetened so I can add the amount of honey that works for my not-so-sweet-tooth.

Orange juice: For this recipe I used about ½ a fresh orange for juice.

Honey or maple syrup: Use less or more depending how sweet the cocktail is desired. I like to use honey but maple syrup works just as well.

Fresh ginger slices

Whole spices: Cinnamon sticks, whole cloves, allspice berries.

For the Champagne Cocktail

Spiced cranberry syrup: Make at home from the ingredients above. This can be made up to a week in advance and kept in the refrigerator.

Champagne or Prosecco: Use your favorite kind! Any sparkling white wine works well for this drink. Keep in mind you can alter the amount for a drink that is more or less strong, and a can of bubbly works just fine if you don’t wan to open a whole bottle.

Garnish: Whole cranberries and fresh rosemary both work perfectly.

Sparkling water or ginger ale: Use either, or a mix of both instead of champagne for a non-alcoholic mocktail.

Spiced Cranberry Syrup

First, put the cranberry juice, orange juice, honey, ginger slices, cinnamon stick, cloves, and allspice in a pot and bring it all to a boil.

Then, turn off the heat and let the mixture steep until it cools down to room temperature.

Now it’s time to strain the spices out. I like to use a fine mesh sieve, but you could use cheesecloth or whatever you have easily available.

Store the cranberry syrup in a jar in the refrigerator until ready to use. It can be made up to a week in advance, which makes this tasty cranberry cocktail even easier to whip up at a party!

To Mix a Cranberry Champagne Cocktail

Put ¼ cup of the homemade spiced cranberry syrup into a your favorite champagne or cocktail glass. I tend to opt for wine glasses!

Finished spiced cranberry syrup pouring into a stemless wine glass with constellations on it, on a wood surface surrounded by red and green cloths and fresh whole cranberries.

Then top it off by adding the desired amount of champagne to the glass. It’s ok to be flexible here and customize it per person, but generally 4-6 ounces works well.

A can of champagne pouring into the wine glass over the cranberry syrup, on a wood surface surrounded by red and green cloths and fresh whole cranberries.

Or, for a non-alcoholic mocktail, top it with the ginger ale and/or sparkling water.

To garnish, top the cranberry champagne cocktail with whole cranberries and a sprig of fresh rosemary for a delightfully festive and beautiful drink!

Always feel free to top it off with more champagne or sparkling wine!

Holiday Festivities Await

The question of what to serve for a holiday drink and what goes well with champagne is now answered! Move on from mimosas, this cranberry champagne cocktail is here to brighten your evening or brunch!

With holiday festivities, Christmas cheer, or any winter gathering, it’s so nice to have an easy drink planned to pour everyone.

I love the make-ahead quality of this pretty drink, and how easy and delicious it is to make non-alcoholic too. Make the spiced cranberry syrup and serve this drink all week long!

The bliss of and easy and customizable cocktail to celebrate the holidays is here with this tasty, beautiful, and festive cocktail. Cheers!
